“Au fond du temple saint” - As part of the Sky Arts 2023 ‘Musical Masterpieces’ documentary series, Matthew leads the Orchestra of Opera North and soloists Nico Darmanin Quirjin de Lang in a recording of the famous Pearl Fishers duet. The video has been viewed over 100,000 times on Facebook.
“Ainadamar: Fountain of Tears” - the trailer for WNO’s Welsh premiere of Ainadamar. Matthew conducts the orchestral and choral forces of Welsh National Opera.
“Music from the heart” - in this 2023 concert tour promo, Matthew’s heart rate is monitored as he rehearses the WNO Orchestra and soloists Nadine Benjamin and Trystan Llyr Griffiths.
“I lay my burden down” - Matthew conducts the British premiere of Tesori’s Blue at English National Opera. Blue was nominated at the Olivier Awards 2024 and the Black British Theatre Awards 2023.
“Migrations: The Music.” - Matthew Kofi Waldren, composer Will Todd, and cast members talk about the score of Migrations. WNO’s 2022 world premiere, directed by Sir David Pountney, was described at the time as “the pulp fiction of opera”.
“Musically it is exemplary” - the trailer for Opera Holland Park’s 2019 critically-acclaimed film of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera. The full opera is available to stream for £6.99 - with funds equitably shared between cast, creatives, technicians and musicians - on the OHP website.
